Hold Harmless
The
authorized legal representatives jointly and severally hereby forever
releases, discharges and acquits Sherry's Dance Center, Sherry
Dennison, all employees and instructors from any and all claims for
damages or injuries of any kind, nature or description, resulting
from study, practice or performance of dance at Sherry's Dance
Center, or at any event in which the student may participate as a
member of Sherry's Dance Center.
Sick Policy
Students may not attend class while running a fever, vomiting, suffering from diarrhea or any other contagious illness. Students must be without the above symptoms for 24 hours prior to returning to class.
We ask that you contact the dance center to notify the instructor that your child will not attend class due to illness. If a student becomes ill during class, we will notify you to pick up your child immediately.
COVID - If a student is diagnosed with covid, the student can return to the studio when, symptoms are improving overall, and if a fever was present, it has been gone, without use of a fever-reducing medication for at least 24 hours.
The student is encouraged to take additional prevention strategies for the next 5 days to curb disease spread, such as, enhancing hygiene practices, wearing a well-fitting mask, keeping a distance from others, and/or getting tested for respiratory viruses.
If a family member is diagnosed with covid but the student is not showing symptoms, we do ask, that the student wear a well-fitting mask for 5 days for precautionary purposes.
Parking
Keep our students and families safe. There is to be "No
Parking" or "Waiting" along the curb in front of the
dance center's entrance at any time. If
you "park" or "wait" we will ask you to move your
vehicle.
Inclement Weather
The dance center monitors the Calvert County Public School System for inclement weather. SDC does not close when schools are closed for in-service days.
The dance center does not make up the first missed day for inclement weather. However, your child may make up that class by attending a class recommended by the instructor.
When schools open late due to inclement weather, the dance center will have classes that evening.
When schools close early or close for the entire day, the dance center will not have classes that evening.
Make-Up Lessons
Absolutely
no make-up lessons will be given for missed class(es) unless absence
is due to illness or death in the family. Make-up lessons must be
done within two weeks of the missed class. No
refunds are given for missed lessons, (activities such as school programs, band trips, sports games,
vacations, etc., do not qualify for make-up lessons).
Personal Belongings
The dance center is not responsible for lost, damaged or stolen personal belongings. The dance center is not responsible for purchased items left at the dance center for more than 90 days from the date merchandise is received, (costumes, photos, DVDs, USB's, apparel, etc.).
Before & After Care of Students
SDC is not responsible for providing before or after class
care for students. Students under the age of 10 should not be left at
the dance center for more than 10 minutes before or after their
scheduled class(es).
A
babysitting fee of $10.00 will be charged for every 15 minutes that
your child remains at the dance center after their class is
dismissed. This fee will be automatically processed using the card on your account. The fee will be determined on the time your child is picked up from SDC. We will notify you of the fee imposed and email you a receipt of the payment. There are no exceptions.
Guests of the Dance Center
We
ask that guests remain in the lounge or waiting area until classes
are dismissed. Guests are not permitted into the studios during class
unless permission is granted by the director prior to the start of
class. An observation fee will be due at the time of approval. The
director reserves the right to deny this request.
Proper Alignment of Students Body
During
instruction of dance, there is a need at times for hands-on contact
between the instructor and/or instructor's assistant and the student.
This allows the instructor and/or instructor's assistant to
accurately position the body of the student to help avoid injuries
and/or to assist the student in obtaining the correct alignment of
the body.
Level Progression
Every
child progresses at his/her own pace. Not every child will move
through levels of dance at the same pace. It usually takes a child
more than one year to move from one level to the next, regardless of
age.
This
serves to keep a child's interest, as well as maintaining a high
confidence level in his/her abilities. Habitual absences make the
progression in levels more timely.
Discipline
Sherry's
Dance Center offers quality instruction and provides a positive
learning atmosphere to all students. While dance class will be fun,
it is not play time, or social time, and must not be treated as such.
Disruptive students may be asked to take a time out from that class.
Refunds will not be issued.
Promptness
Please
arrive a few minutes prior to your child's scheduled class time to
allow time to prepare for class. We make every effort to begin and
end classes promptly. Students are encouraged to arrive early to
visit with their friends before class so they are focused and ready
to work.
Attendance
Please be aware that regular attendance is expected. Most of our classes develop choreography as the season moves forward. Each student is considered an important participant. Repeated absences will cause a student to fall behind in class. Regular absences make it difficult, not only for the individual student, but for the instructor and the other students in the class.
Instructors reserve the right to require the student to attend a private make upclass or classes to be caught up with choreography and technique to continue in the level enrolled. A fee for private classes will be imposed. Repeated absence indicates a lack of interest in the student's dance education.
Tardiness
Warm-ups
are designed to prepare your child's body for strenuous exercises and
proper technique. Please make every effort to have your child at the
dance center on time for class to avoid missing parts, or all of the
warm-ups — a practice that may result in an injury.
Students
who arrive 15 minutes late or more for class may not be permitted to
participate. This is at the instructor's discretion. We do, however,
recommend the student observe their class, if permission to
participate is denied by the instructor. Repeated absences and late
arrivals indicate a lack of interest in the student's dance
education.
Food & Beverages
All food and beverages are to be consumed and kept in the lounge (TVroom).
We ask, that no food and beverages are left at the studio overnight. Please be sure to tidy up after having your snack or dinner.
Production
The
participation of the Production is not required for students;
however, it is recommended to become a well-rounded dancer and to enjoy the full experience of their hard work during the regular dance season. Parents
and/or adult students participating in the Production are committing
to participate in dress rehearsals and both performances.
All dancers participating in the SDC Production are required to wear make up for the photo shoot, dress rehearsal and both performances, (SDC will list the appropriate make up prior to the Production).
It
is required that students attend the last 2 weeks of classes prior to
the Production, as well as the tech rehearsal. Accounts must be paid
in full to participate in the Production.
Costumes
Students
will be measured and sizing will be determined from the costume
company size chart. Costumes are not custom made for students;
therefore, alterations may be needed. Sherry's Dance Center is not
responsible for alterations.
If
a parent or adult student requests a size change, there is a $20.00
exchange fee and payment is due at the time of the request. This
request must be made within 10 days of Sherry's Dance Center
receiving a costume size guide. Costume fittings will be done during
the student's class. If a student is absent during the fitting, the
student/parent forfeits their option to request a size change.
Costume Fees
A costume deposit of $50.00 is due November 1, for each class your child is enrolled. Costume deposits will not be refunded after this date, even if a student withdraws from the Production or Sherry's Dance Center. Costume balances are due February 1.
Costume deposits and balances are separate payments and are not connected to tuition payments, convention payments, competition payments, but not limited to, and should not be confused to request using another payment towards a costume deposit or balance.
Costume balances must be paid, even if a student withdraws from the Production or Sherry's Dance Center. Costume deposits and balances are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Costume Late Fees
Costume balances paid after the due date will result in a 20% late fee for each month payment is delinquent. There is no grace period for costume balances. Costume(s), accessories and tuition account must be paid in full prior to receiving items. The late fee is determined by the balance due on the costume and will accrue each month delinquent. There are no excuses or exceptions.
